About the team

Adaptive is helping companies build singular generative AI experiences by democratizing the use of reinforcement learning. We are building the foundational technologies, tools, and products required for models to learn directly from users' interactions and for models to self-critique and self-improve from simple written guidelines. Our tightly-knit team was previously involved in the creation of state-of-the-art open-access large language models such as Falcon-180B. We have closed a $20M seed with Index & ICONIQ, and are looking forward to shipping a first version of our platform, Adaptive Engine, in early 2024.

Our Commercial Staff is responsible for swiftly bringing the technology and product we build to our diverse customers and to the community. We strive to answer direct pain points companies encounter in their generative AI deployment, and our Commercial Staff also acts as the voice of our customers, contributing to our product and technical roadmap.

‍About the role

As a Developer Advocate in our Commercial Staff, you will help democratize reinforcement learning and drive the adoption of Adaptive products. Reinforcement learning is central to the success and capabilities of groundbreaking models such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini; yet, RL is dramatically underutilized due to its technical complexity, typically reserved to frontier labs.

You will own content creation for developers and the machine learning community in our Commercial Staff, with a focus on reinforcement learning. You will produce content such as blog posts, technical demonstrations, and documentation to popularize and demystify reinforcement learning, as well as help developers navigate our products. You will be a key user of our internal LLM Stack, Adaptive Harmony, and will have the opportunity to contribute to reproduction efforts and scientific benchmarks that you will share. Finally, you will also help organize the community around Adaptive, contributing to social media communications, coordinating events and partnerships. We are looking for self-driven, intense individuals, interested in producing content valuing technical excellency, honesty, and clarity above all. As this is an early role, you can expect to be able to directly shape our commercial team as we grow.

Your responsibilities

• Own our content creation, from subject selection to publication, collaborating closely with members of the Product and Technical staff to democratize reinforcement learning;
• Ensure our content abide by our values of technical excellency, honesty, and clarity across platforms;
• Write engaging technical content, backed by public demos, code examples, and in-depth benchmarks;
• Coordinate our community interactions: from events, to engagements, and partnerships;
• Contribute to the roadmap for our products, by reporting on feedback and trends in the community, and help shape our Commercial Staff as Adaptive grows;
• Report clearly on your work to a distributed collaborative team, with a bias for asynchronous written communication.

Your (ideal) background

• At least 1-3 years experience of developer advocacy experience, preferably with a focus on machine learning;
• A portfolio of blog posts, demonstrations, and events you may have contributed to;
• Experience at fast-growing early-stage startups;
• Software engineering and ML skills;
• Passionate about the future of generative AI, and eager to build foundational technology to help machines deliver more singular experiences.
